Tips to Honor Pride Month

Do you need tips to honor Pride Month?

Do you honor Pride Month? During the month of June it may be difficult for some to join in the celebration or encourage others to celebrate when you aren’t part of the LGBTQ community. However, it’s important to stand up and advocate; show you’re an ally. Equality matters and the more we all come together, the more acceptance and inclusivity we will see.

So here are four tips you can do to honor pride month.

Attend a Pride event

There are many parades, concerts and other fun events in your community to choose from. For example, some coffee or tea houses host Queer Game Nights, Yoga and organize picnics in the park. There’s generally something for everyone.

Decorate

If you aren’t one for going out, perhaps placing a decoration to honor Pride Month on your desk, lawn or garden is an option. There are even social media frames you can use to update your profile picture for the month of June.

Learn the history to honor Pride Month

When we study history, we are less likely to repeat past mistakes. The history of Pride Month is interesting and shows that when people come together for a common cause change can happen. Learn the history and how it evolved from a day, to a week then to an entire month.

Volunteer or donate

There are many non-profits in your local community and across the world that can benefit from your time or money. Choose one that’s close to your heart and either lend a hand or place a monetary donation and make a difference directly with your actions.

There are many ways to honor Pride Month and stand up for our LGBTQ community members. Go out and show your support in a way that’s most meaningful to you.
